Job Interview

 http://www.bls.gov/oco/oco20045.htm

Preparation:
  • Learn about the organization.
  • Have a specific job or jobs in mind.
  • Review your qualifications for the job.
  • Be ready to briefly describe your experience, showing how it relates it the job.
  • Be ready to answer broad questions, such as "Why should I hire you?" "Why do you want this job?"
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses?"
  • Practice an interview with a friend or relative.
The steps that are listed for this website I feel best describes how you should prepare for a interview. Before any interview you should work on your confidence level far as speaking and having direct eye contact. The key to getting a job is having confidence within yourself and your achievements. Being able to speak proudly about you accomplishments and the knowledge you have that qualifies you for the job.

 Be On Time
Be on time for the interview. On time means five to ten minutes early. If need be, take some time to drive to the office ahead of time so you know exactly where you are going and how long it will take to get there.
being on times or even being early shows how bad you want the job also shows your resposible.

Maintain eye contact. Look the interviewer in the eye without staring. Not doing so is often perceived as shiftiness not shyness. This is the most valuable thing for a interview it shows you have confidence.

Resume Writing

This website I found credible explains how you should state certain information under education. The first one being if your applying for a internship as a undergraduate listing the college you attend then the high-school under also listing the important activities you did in high-school like volunteering. For graduates all the relevant  courses taken should be listed also your gpa if its over 3.0. all honors in awards achieved should also be mention. Never include your grade school or middle school.

This website was credible because it explains about references. Why you should not list your references on your resume  Tell the employer simply that, "References are available upon request," or, "References gladly furnished upon request." Do not list references on your resume. Instead, have them typed on a separate sheet of paper and have them available if the employer asks for them. You should have three to five references listed. They should be people who know you and your work — not your relatives. Be sure to get each person’s permission to use him or her as a reference. Due to people having there own schedules its very important to inform them that you use them as a reference and when the job might be calling so they don't receive the phone call at the wrong time. Which can cause the job to be discouraged your references represents you

This website was credible for explaining the importance of the objective. The objective is basically the resume section that contains the career plan statement of the applicant in relation to what the employer or company looks for. This is important because it introduces you to the employer. A lot of time should be put into trying to come up with the appropriate objective. Background information should be gathered and read before you do a objective .The objective is job specific. It should be no more than three sentences.

Chapter 2

"Spinning in the wind and going nowhere fast"(p19)
This qoute to me explains when people are not organized with everything going on in there life it leads to chaos. When you have a lot of decisions to make at once you ted to not make any improvement. Being overwhelmed leads to stress and most of the time people that are stressed ted to give up on things that are important. having school work in taking care of your house hold can be overwhelming what helps the situation is being organized.Staying on top of schedule appointments cutting out time for studying. keep a clean home also helps me. This quote represents why some people say there moving but not going anywhere. For example being in school and passing on class by continuing to fail most of your classes represent a person that is moving but not going anywhere fast.

"When we take what we learn in one sphere of our life and apply it to another our knowledge and understanding increase substantially"(p20)
I agree with this statement a lot  people forget being in grade school and the teacher always saying "make sure to keep your desk and cubbie clean".Even when parents yelled about keeping your room and book-bag cleaned it helps in the work place. Having to maintain different task helped us later on in life be able to keep things going smoothly. Being organize with small task at a young age helped with being organized as an adult. Keeping important things organize now should be easier. Knowing where the bill statements are important documentation you can go right and your folder and get has progressed. Our knowledge should have increased substantially on the importance of being organized.

"Self-discovery requires time and focus"(p22)
This quote defines how I look at people that are lazy a lot of people go through life not knowing who they are or what they want. I feel a reason for this is that people don't take time out to get to know themselves. Today in society people are more concern with whats the hottest brand or whose the hottest rapper instead of finding out what their favorite color is.

INFJ Counselors

The personality test described me I'm a person that loves to counsel people. Making a person feel better makes me happy. I enjoy talking to people and telling them good things to encourage them. The article describes me as a "Counselors have an exceptionally strong desire to contribute to the welfare of others, and find great personal fulfillment interacting with people, nurturing their personal development, guiding them to realize their human potential". I love to make people feel better I will sit down in listening to a person until I feel I have left them in a positive mind state. The test gave me 67% for Judging I agree I tend to be judgmental at times although I have sympathy for others I do judge those that have no excuse it is something that I have been working on. Realizing you cant be so judgmental because not everyone thinks nor acts like you. It also described me as a person that prefers Introversion I agree I tend to want to be alone to gather my thoughts and retract my mistakes. I do this a lot just to make sure I'm on the right track and making the right decisions. Being alone helps me analyze better.

I definitely lead with Feelings I follow very strict values that I was either raised by or taught myself. Most of my decisions made I base on how I would look at myself and second how my actions will be judged by my parents. I tend to always think of how someone else would feel before I do anything or make any decisions.  I can say I agree with Intuition also I am a person that lead with what I feel if I have a bad intuition about something I wont do it. If I have a good intuition about something I will put my best foot forward. I believe my intuition is strongly connected to my feelings. The test described 3 career fields for me social science, health care and art/science this I agree with my major is science and I plan on going in the health care field to be a nurse. This was a good test it actually touch me a little because it was able to describe me so well.

Cover Letter

http://jobsearch.about.com/od/coverletters/a/aa030401a.htm

Writing a cover letter seems to be challenging at first trying to find the best words to describe why your the best candidate for the job. Some ways I found helpful is knowing what type of cover letter you need to write. There are three different ways to write a cover letter one a application letter which response to a job opening. The second a prospecting letter which inquires about possible positions. The third networking letter which requests information and assistance in your job search. Your most relevant skills and experience should be listed. A high level of interest and knowledge about the position.should be expressed

I found this article to be helpful it help me gain more knowledge about cover letters,. I didn't know the difference in cover letters. By knowing the difference it catches the employers attention if there isn't a job opening available by you sending a networking cover letter you are building a relationship with the employer. When it is a job opening you have already built a relationship so most likely your guaranteed a interview

This article described 10 tips to writing a good nursing cover letter  a few that stood out were 1.Brag a bit - its ok to toot your own horn. Remember you want to stand out. Mentioning honors, awards, special recommendations that you have achieved. Anything that is relevant to the position should be put  in! for 2 being Focus - your cover letter should be focused entirely on that one position you want. A prospective employer should be able to, at a glance, know what you are applying for. 3Give them what they want! - do your research on the position. Tailor your cover letter - and resume - to the position. This article lets  you know to have confidence.

This was helpful because in writing a cover letter at times people are focused on what the job is and not mentioning all of there accomplishments are mentions. shows that mentioning the soft skills and having confidence in your accomplishments is important also

http://www.how-to-write-a-cover-letter.org/
This website spoke about how important the layout of your cover letter is. It should be laid out like any other letter with your address and their address at the top. You should have a good intro message in your first paragraph something that sells you like a sales pitch after all you are selling yourself to the employer.

This article explains how organization can help you get notice by having the correct format and stating a sales pitch in the beginning of the cover letter. It makes the employer want to read more

Work values that describe me

After taking the test I felt like it did express my career. I scored high in altruism which is what nursing is all about. Helping others means the world to me. I also scored high in achievements i define achievement putting a smile on someones face making them feel better helping  delivery babies is a achievement to me. I am helping the world to expand. Creativity is a high demand to me because wanting to be a nurse you have to be open to taking risk to save someones life or deliver a baby even if your off duty. Another one was independence I love to be independent but me scoring low was right because I don't mine being told things working in the hospital is a team effort and as a nurse you will always have a doctor to guide you. I can say scoring low for intellectual stimulation was surprising because I'm always up for a challenge. In conclusion I felt this was a great test to help me realize what I need to improve in.
